Children are eager to learn about and participate in all things Christmas. Sometimes their energy levels seem more in line with dynamic Christmas activities like decorating cookies, singing songs, and coloring Nativity scenes. It is just as important, though, to expose them to the prayerful side of the holiday. Let there be moments of peace as we remember the holiness of Christmas and reflect on the tender image of a humble family gathered together after a most wondrous birth. Here is a prayer that captures the spirit of Christmas and can guide children toward a calm and quiet moment in the midst of this joyous season:
Gracious God, send us your grace this Advent Season so that we can prepare for your coming. Touch our hearts with longing so that we can better love and serve you and each other. Fill us with the hope that we can be transformed by your Spirit and so help transform the world. Give us the peace of knowing that you came to share our human life and redeem us for the sake of love. We ask these things in the name of Jesus whose kingdom we seek. Amen.**
Have a blessed week, friends!

There is a lot of Christmas anticipation in our house right now; we could probably light up the Christmas tree if we harnessed all the energy! Luckily there is a wonderful holiday tomorrow that will provide some relief for all the eager little spirits around here: Saint Nicholas Day! St. Nicholas Day is celebrated on December 6th and honors the 4th century saint who was known for his goodness toward children, as well as his generous gift-giving. If St. Nicholas were around today, we believe that he would be pleased to see Wee Believers™ toys tucked inside boots and shoes!
Have a blessed St. Nicholas Day, friends!

If your heart needs some warming, try this simple exercise: ask a young child to name all the things he/she is thankful for. When we did this at our house, the list ran all the way from God to pink frosted cupcakes with rainbow sprinkles. Children can deliver the most beautiful responses to this question because they don't get bogged down by many of the same things that keep adults from appreciating the heavenly gifts that surround us. Let us all take a lesson from the children this Thanksgiving. May we thank God for the simple gifts that fill our lives and for the joy of celebrating them with the ones we love at Thanksgiving.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving, friends!

Having a festive-looking dining table reminds our family of the joy of the upcoming holiday! As I was pulling out our Advent Faith Mats™, to make sure we have one for each table setting this year, my son asked me what the Advent wreath is all about. I pointed to the evergreen wreath and told him that it symbolizes life forever and how God never changes, especially in His love for us. My son wondered about the circle shape, and I told him that just like a circle never ends, God never ends. He was so excited about the Faith Mat™ and all it means that he wanted to take it down to the playground to show his friends! I gently told him that we need to keep the mat nice and clean inside, but that we would spend lots of time as a family doing special activities with it. He can't wait to draw in the flames of the weekly candles! If you know children who may also enjoy the wonder of the season of Advent, consider Wee Believers™ Advent Faith Mats™ for them. At this time of year, there are a lot of lists floating around our house: "to do" lists, guest lists, grocery lists, and my children's favorite, the Christmas list! We are all so busy preparing for the upcoming festivities. With restless thoughts in my head today, I found myself roaming around the dining room with a hot mug of tea. I paused and looked over a wish list of toys one of my children had cut out of a catalog. So many of the toys were things that, while eye-catching, did not encourage my children to remember the reason we celebrate Christmas. This year, I look forward to bringing out the Color and Hug™ nativity scene and hanging it on our tree as an ornament. As a family, we will also create the scene of Jesus' birth with the Wee Believers™ nativity floor puzzle. So, here's to looking forward to the entire season of Advent and celebrating Christmas!

Halloween often begins the holiday season madness that lasts right through New Year's Day. We all get swept up in the energy and excitement of this time, as we decorate our houses, stock up on food,
and make travel plans. This year, let's take a moment to pause before we are off and running. This is a big week with All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. These days give us the perfect focus for our calm and quiet selves, as they commemorate the holy and faithful departed among us. May we always look to the saints for inspiring examples of living Christ-filled lives. And may God bless all those we have lost and for whom we mourn, and may their memory bring us peace as we prepare for the hustle and bustle of the upcoming holidays.
Have a blessed week, friends.
